Ploiesti city is the capital of Prahova County which is the most populated county of Romania.

Placed in a plane area, 60 kilometres North from Bucharest , at 150 metres above sea level, between Prahova and Teleajen rivers, it has a surface of 50 square kilometres. Ploiesti City Hall represents the local governance in a city with 240,000 inhabitants.

Although it's the closest to Bucharest -the capital- with which it had a four-century relationship, Ploiesti has never lost its identity.

Ploiesti city is an important international, national, county and local railway and motorway junction (corridors 4 and 9). The municipality lies at the confluence point of the North-South and East-West axes, respectively at the crossroads of Transylvania-Bucharest ( Danube River or the Black Sea ) and Moldavia-Oltenia (the sub-Carpathian connection). The road network has a radial-ring structure and extends from the city to the neighbouring villages. The infrastructure has a high quality of water, sewerage, heating, gas, electricity and phone services compared with the national average.

Ploiesti municipality encourages clean urban transport focused on energy efficiency and clean vehicles and fuels and seeks to ensure that the city's transport system serves the wider aims of economic revitalization, urban regeneration, sustainable development and environmental improvement.
