Within the BIONIC project regional networks were formed, made up of representatives from a wide range of partner organisations from both public and private sectors. Networks have met regularly throughout the project to discuss regional issues, provide direct support to the case studies and disseminate feedback from the other sites in the BIONIC project. The five participating regions to set up regional actions as part of BIONIC were:
NORTH WEST ENGLAND, UK Membership is informal, and includes local authority and other public sector fleet operators; major private sector fleet operators; research and business support organisations, biofuel suppliers and agricultural interests. Interest in North West Biofuels Network should be directed to Merseytravel. The North West Biofuels Network User Group can be found here.
CANTABRIA, SPAIN The whole biofuels chain, from suppliers to end users is part of the network and includes representatives from local authorities, producers and distributors, end users and NGOs. Interested in Cantabria Biofuels Network should be directed to CTL Cantabria.
VARMLAND, SWEDEN The network contains several sub-groups each working on issues related to a specific fuel, including biogas, bioethanol, biodiesel and methanol. Interested in Region Värmland Biofuels Network should be directed to Region Varmland.
PRAHOVA, ROMANIA The network includes major fuels suppliers, the academic research community, other actors that play an important role in the dissemination at national and international level and neighbouring regions. Interested in Prahova Biofuels Network should be directed to Universitatea Petrol- Gaze din Ploiesti
PAZARDJIK, BULGARIA The membership of the network includes authorities on national, regional, and local level; agricultural research organisations; quality control organisations; biofuel producers, energy crops producers and producers of equipment for biofuel production; local distributors; and local end users, such as transport companies.
